Here are some guidelines for maintaining and beautifying your lips.

  1. Drink enough water to hydrate yourself; at least 8 glasses every day. Dehydration can harm your lips, leaving them chapped and lifeless.
  2. Avoid smoking because it will make your lips appear darker.
  3. Never use very old lip products, such as lipsticks or lip liners. Always check the expiration date.
  4. Try to avoid lip products loaded with chemicals as in long term this heavy metals (eg. chromium, cadmium, lead, etc..) can cause health problems. If you can’t totally avoid it, attempt to use it less frequently.
  5. Don’t binge drink tea or coffee because too much caffeine might cause your lips to turn black over time.
  6. Exfoliate your lips frequently to remove dead skin cells and to make them smoother and pinker.
  7. If you have a habit of leaking lips stop it completely because saliva has enzymes which can be beneficial in breaking down food and these enzymes are not good for delicate skin of lips so this salvia can darken your lips and area around lips.
  8. Regular lip massage improves blood circulation, which helps lips become pinker, fuller, and softer.
  9. Use SPF on lips if you are going into the sun.
